Introduction

The purpose of this tutorial is to define basic safety concepts which, when effectively applied, contribute to the reduction to very low levels of any detrimental effects from the use of nuclear technology.

The tutorial presents an overview of objectives, concepts and principles for ensuring safety that can be used both by the Agency in its international assistance operations and by Member State in its national nuclear programme.

This tutorial is for use by the general public and the scientific international community.
