International BSS

Requirements for protecting human beings in all activities involving radiation exposure are established in the International Basic Safety Standards for Protection against Ionizing Radiation and for the Safety of Radiation Sources, jointly sponsored by FAO, IAEA, ILO, OECD/NEA, PAHO and WHO and published in 1996. These Standards are based on the most recent recommendations of the ICRP, issued in 1991 (ICRP Publication N°60) and published by the IAEA (Safety Series N°115, IAEA, Vienna 1996).
