Quality Management
In agreement with the requirement of the Statute to apply standards to own actions within the Agency, a Quality Management System has been implemented in the radiation monitoring laboratories operated by the Policy and Programme Support Section.
The objectives of this implementations are:
- To secure the high functionality of the laboratories
to guarantee the quality of the results provided to
internal (laboratory staff and safeguards inspectors) and
external (experts on mission) customers through accreditation to the International Standard ISO17025 - to become a "model" for Member States
The quality system encompasses all processes of measurement and calibration which comprise the following monitoring service delivered to the customers:
Individual monitoring - by external monitoring with TLD and EPD devices
- for whole body and extremity doses
internal monitoring by whole Body counting (WBC) and
Urine analysis - Combining single monitoring and measurement results into
equivalent dose reported as Hp(10)
Workplace monitoring - by contamination checks on workplaces
- measurement of effluent air from glove boxes and fume hoods
- radioactive waste surveillance
Support to the Agency’s field activities - with the full range of radiation monitoring and protecting knowledge and activities
Instrument services by - calibration, verifying and maintenance procedures for
- different measurement
- monitoring and warning devices used in house
- by Safeguards inspectors or on Agency’s field missions
