Engineering Safety
To assist Member States in achieving and maintaining a high level of safety in nuclear installations through the development of safety standards in the engineering areas related to site evaluation, design and long term operation, including ageing management, periodic safety review and configuration management.
To promote and assist Member States in the application of these safety standards through engineering safety review services, including assistance to improve their ability to perform self assessments.
To exchange experience and information on developed methodologies, to disseminate good practices and to facilitate knowledge management and networking among the Member States in the technical areas of engineering safety, developing and maintaining the related global knowledge base.
These objectives are achieved through the following:
- Site safety and evaluation of external and internal hazards for nuclear facilities
- Design safety of evolutionary and innovative nuclear power plants
- Safe long term operation
- Support on engineering safety aspects related to protection against sabotage
Each of the above is supported by specific programmes and technical service modules that can be applied as an integrated, comprehensive service or utilized in selected individual modular segments to provide the level of assistance requested by the Member State.
Further information is available regarding the applicable safety standards that form the basis of these programmes and services.
For further information or if you would like to discuss how ESS can assist you, please contact Aybars Guerpinar.
