Iraq Decommissioning Project
Capacity building
The IAEA and other supporting Member States have worked together with the Iraqi's engaged on the Iraq Decommissioning Programme to identify opportunities for increasing their capacity for safe delivery of the Programme.
Between March 2007 and December 2008 four training events took place:
- Radioactive Waste Training: Sandia Laboratories, Nevada, Texas, United States, March, 2007
- Characterization of Radioactively Contaminated Sites : International Radioecology Laboratory, Slavutych, Pripyat, 17 June, 2008
- Size Reduction of Components for Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities: SCK-CEN Waste Technical Laboratories, Mol, Belgium, 8-10 October, 2008
- Practical Concepts for Safe Disposal of Low-Level Radioactive Waste in Arid Conditions, Cooperative Monitoring: Cooperative Monitoring Centre of the Royal Scientific Society in Amman, Jordan, 14-16 December, 2008
