International Symposium on NORM
Overview
5th International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM V), 19–22 March 2007, Seville, Spain - The Agency cooperated in the 5th International Symposium on Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM V), which was organized by the University of Seville, Spain, in March 2007. This international symposium follows, as a natural continuation, four previous symposia dealing with exposure to natural sources of radiation, held in Amsterdam (1997), Krefeld, Germany (1998), Brussels (2001) and Szczyrk, Poland (2004). Special attention was devoted to the following NORM topics:
- Thorium and its industrial applications
- Processing and use of zircon and zirconia
- Production of titanium dioxide
- Monazite and the extraction of rare earths
- Extraction, processing and use of phosphate minerals
- Scrap recycling and waste management
