The Division’s budget for 2006 is $9,113,360 (at an exchange rate of 0.796 Euro/US$1). Approximately 82% of the Division’s total budget is used for staff costs. In addition, a total of $3,000,000 has been planned as extrabudgetary funds for special projects.

NSNI professional staff actively support Technical Co-operation safety-related activities. These include technical support and supervision of 68 operational projects (nation and regional), and technical evaluation of both fellowships and scientific visits. The adjusted programme available for implementing these activities amounts to approximately $3 million.

NSNI currently has 52 professional staff members, including 8 cost-free experts, and 24 general service staff - a total of 76 staff members representing 26 countries, as follows:
